Reminder: Entries Due for the Congressional Art Competition

Apr 19, 2013 Issues: Happening in West Texas

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) reminded high school students in West Texas to submit an original piece of art to the 2013 Congressional Art Competition. The winning entry will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.

“This is a great opportunity for a high school student to have his or her artwork showcased in our nation’s capital,” Neugebauer said.  “Nearly every day that I’m in Washington, DC, I pass these works of art on my way to vote. It’s not only a beautiful and diverse collection, but it’s also a powerful reminder of all the young talent in our country.”

The competition is open to all high school students in the 19th District of Texas, and entries are due by April 26, 2013.  Entry rules are posted at the official competition website. You can also contact Lisa Brooks at 432-264-0722 or lisa.brooks@mail.house.gov for more information.

Last year, Beckie Schneller of Abilene represented the 19th District with her oil painting, So Small (below).
